DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Jacksonville Airport at 2101 Dixie Clipper Drive, Jacksonville, Florida.

So I arrived to the hotel around 9pm. Went in the side door with my digital key to my first floor room 709. The second I opened the side door to the hallway, the moldy musty smell hit me. I should have taken it as a sign. I got into the room and sat at the desk. Finished a bunch of work emails and watched a movie on my laptop and before I knew it, 1am rolls around. I decide to head to bed. I get into the right side (furthest from the door) and stretch out. It’s a king bed and I’m alone so I roll towards the middle for more space. The bed is ice cold. But not just ice cold. It’s soaking wet. At first I thought it was just me but no, the bed was soaked. I pulled back the sheet and whomever had the room before me and was on the left side decided to pee in the bed. I called the front desk and told them and was told they were sold out and they could bring me more sheet. I told them the bed was soaked. The mattress was literally a wet sponge. I was told they would give me extra points for my troubles. Yes you read that right. I would get extra points for having to sleep in someone else’s pee bed. I asked for a cot and was told they had none. So my options were to leave the hotel or sleep in the pee bed. I told her I would like my room charged credited back and I would leave. After a number of excuses why, she said she would and I left. It floored me that I had to beg for a refund for a bed with pee in it. It also amazed me that no one caught the giant yellow wet stain on the mattress and instead just toss new sheets over it. Or it makes me think that room service just made the dirty bad and never bothered to change the sheets at all. To add to all this. They still do have a room left. Their deluxe king suite at $498 a night is available. I’m not sure why a diamond member who was staying for one night in a pee soaked bed wasn’t offered this room? Did they think that someone would show up at 2am and give them $500 bucks for it? Apparently customer service is not something this place prides itself on. When I left I called the diamond members number and was moved to a Hampton inn down the road. I’m writing this review from that bed. Which I might add, is clean and dry. Lesson learned here. I’ve spent way too much money at Hilton properties and gotten too little, time to switch back to Marriott. Better rewards and nicer properties and better customer service. I already know I’m going to spend the next few days on the phone with my credit card company and the Hilton support line trying to get the charge for the pee room off my card. Can’t wait. If I could give zero stars, I would. And for the next person who gets room 709, I suggest you just leave before you have to roll over into some strangers pee.
